The Can & Will Help Foundation is committed to addressing key barriers to job retention and workforce readiness in urban communities across Chicago, Illinois. Our programs are designed to support both students and job seekers through hands-on experience, mentoring, and skill-building opportunities.

Job Readiness Program

Our job readiness training provides participants with ongoing support in:

  • Computer literacy and digital skills

  • Resume building and job application strategies

  • Mock interviews and professional communication

 

We aim to equip individuals with the tools they need to secure and maintain employment, while building confidence and long-term career potential.

​

Student Support & Volunteer Opportunities

Students involved with the foundation have the opportunity to earn:

  • Volunteer hours

  • Service learning credits

  • Work-study or probation hours (as applicable)

 

These experiences are designed to build leadership, responsibility, and civic engagement.

2023–2024 Service/Project Learning Opportunity

Students can earn 5 service/project learning hours by completing two tasks:

  1. Write a 1-page essay on the importance of community involvement and being an active member of society.

  2. Assemble 5 care packages that include:

    • One t-shirt

    • Male or female underwear

    • One bottle of water

    • A pair of socks

 

Additional care package ideas are welcome and should be discussed with the Leading Educator or School Counselor.

After completing our Resume Building Workshop, participants will gain essential tools and confidence to succeed in today’s competitive job market. This workshop is designed to help individuals in Chicago’s urban communities develop professional materials that reflect their strengths and qualifications.

Participants will learn to:

  • Gain essential computer skills for job searching and application preparation

  • Research job opportunities, complete online applications, and create impactful resumes

  • Highlight qualifications and experience to position themselves as strong, viable candidates

  • Present a professional image and establish credibility through resume writing

  • Demonstrate written communication skills that align with employer expectations

Interview & Communication Skills Workshop in Chicago

Master the Art of Interviewing and Professional Communication

Our free interview and communication skills workshops are designed to help individuals in Chicago’s urban communities confidently prepare for job opportunities, whether you’re new to the workforce, returning after a break, or seeking career advancement.

In this workshop, participants will:
